Erik Popham, CFA
Prior to co-founding Compound Family Offices, Erik was a Sr. Vice President and GenSpring Investment Strategist at GenSpring | SunTrust Private Wealth Management where he was charged with the introduction, implementation and management of GenSpring’s investment process. His responsibilities included investment policy formation, asset allocation strategy development, investment manager selection, portfolio performance monitoring and client relationship management.
In addition to the direct client responsibilities outlined above, Erik was a member of GenSpring’s Family Investment Officer Council, permanent voting member of GenSpring’s Portfolio Construction Group and member of the Sustainable Investment Committee and had previously served on various internal focused committees including the Manager Selection Committee and the Investment Policy Statement & Reporting Committee.
Erik started his GenSpring tenure in 2007 with Asset Management Advisors (AMA), a Registered Investment Advisor, before it was renamed GenSpring Family Offices. Prior to joining AMA, Erik served as an Investment Officer at the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, where he was responsible for the Real Estate, Commodities, Timber and Energy allocations. Previously, Erik worked as a Senior Associate at Arthur Andersen LLP within the Valuation Services Group where he performed 100+ valuations of closely held businesses in a variety of industries. Immediately prior to joining AMA, Erik served as the sole Investment Officer at a single family office in Miami, Florida.
Erik earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Duke University. Erik is also a CFA charter holder and a member of the CFA Institute.
Scott Gurr
Prior to co-founding Compound Family Offices, Scott was a Sr. Vice President and GenSpring Sr. Wealth Strategist at GenSpring | SunTrust Private Wealth Management. Scott started his GenSpring tenure in 2006 with Asset Management Advisors (AMA), a Registered Investment Advisor, before it was renamed GenSpring Family Offices. While at GenSpring he served families as part of a collaborative team and developed deep relationships with ultra-wealthy families in the delivery of wealth management and family office services. Such services included estate, gift and trust planning, financial planning, tax planning, philanthropy, governance and education, sharing best practices, risk management, asset protection, the management and coordination of information, and partnering with his family’s other key advisors.
Prior to GenSpring Scott was a Senior Manager with Deloitte Tax, LLP in Atlanta where he focused on delivering estate, gift and trust planning, financial planning, investment advisory services, tax consulting and compliance services to high net worth individuals, executives and families. While at Deloitte Scott served as the Southeast’s designated provider of Wealth of Options, Deloitte’s estate planning platform for ultra-high net worth families.
Scott is a Cum Laude graduate of Kennesaw State University where he received a BBA in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Scott is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and its Personal Financial Planning Division. Scott also holds the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation given by the AICPA. Scott is a member of the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council and has served on the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s Distinguished Speaker Series Committee.
JEFF MULLENS, CFA
Prior to joining Compound Family Offices, Jeff’s career in the family office industry began in 2012 with GenSpring | SunTrust Private Wealth Management. During his tenure with GenSpring Family Offices Jeff held increasingly responsible roles with the firm, most recently serving as a Family Investment Associate. His responsibilities included assisting with investment policy formation, asset allocation development and implementation, investment manager selection, and portfolio performance monitoring. Jeff was also a permanent non-voting member of GenSpring’s Portfolio Construction Group.
Immediately prior to joining Compound Family Offices, Jeff had the opportunity to serve as the Chief Operating Officer of Madison Homes, a luxury homebuilder in Tampa, FL. While at Madison, Jeff gained valuable leadership and entrepreneurial experience working alongside company ownership.
Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Florida. Jeff is also a CFA charter holder and a member of the CFA Institute.
KRISTINA B. BRYN, CTFA
Prior to joining Compound Family Offices, Kristina was a Senior Vice President and Senior Trust Advisor with GenSpring/SunTrust Bank Private Wealth Management. Kristina started with GenSpring Family Offices in 2008 as a Family Wealth Advisor. While at GenSpring she served families as part of a collaborative team and developed deep relationships with ultra-wealthy families in the delivery of wealth management and family office services. Such services included estate, gift and trust planning, financial planning, tax planning, philanthropy, governance and education, sharing best practices, risk management, asset protection, the management and coordination of information, and partnering with her other GenSpring advisors.
Prior to GenSpring, Kristina spent 29 years as a Vice President and Trust Officer for SunTrust Bank. Kristina has extensive experience working with high net worth clients, particularly in the fiduciary area. Her focus has been on the administration of complex estate plans and the implementation and management of sophisticated wealth transfer techniques. She is a registered Certified Trust and Financial Advisor. Kristina serves on the board of the Douglas Gardens Mental Health Center and the DuMond Conservancy at Monkey Jungle.
Jeff Devine, CFA, CAIA
Prior to joining Compound Family Offices, Jeff was an Investment Analyst with GenSpring | SunTrust Private Wealth Management. Jeff worked with wealth advisors, attorneys, accountants, and other wealth specialists to provide retirement, trust, and estate solutions to ultra-high-net-worth families. His primary responsibilities included asset allocation decision making, manager research, trading, and performance reporting. Jeff was an active member of GenSpring’s Portfolio Construction Group committee.
Prior to GenSpring, Jeff worked at Summit Strategies Group, a top-20 institutional investment consulting firm. As a Senior Research Analyst, Jeff had primary manager research coverage on over $10 billion in client equities across domestic growth, small core, and international core asset classes.
Jeff graduated summa cum laude from Saint Louis University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with concentrations in Finance and Marketing. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Society of South Florida. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) charter and is a member of the Miami, FL chapter. Jeff is currently registered with FINRA as an investment advisor representative and holds a Series 65 license. Jeff is a Florida notary public.
Sandra Marcano
Prior to joining Compound Family Offices, Sandra worked at GenSpring / SunTrust Private Wealth Management as a Client Service Consultant, working closely with Senior Trust Advisors, Wealth Strategists and Family Investment Officers. She was responsible for day to day account administration, facilitated money movement requests, security transfers, client inquiries, research projects, coordinating and communicating with outside professionals, assisting in the preparation of financial statements, tax information, and family meetings. Sandra was also part of the client account services group responsible for the onboarding and maintenance of GenSpring accounts. Her role entailed working closely with GenSpring client service teams to enhance and streamline client onboarding. She prepared account documents, captured client information necessary for new accounts, ensuring clients are properly documented through AML and business line pre-acceptance processes.
From 2008 through 2010, Sandra worked at Wells Fargo Private Bank as a Trust Associate supporting a group of Fiduciary Specialists with the day to day account administration. She periodically attended meetings with clients and coordinated meeting materials for the client meetings. Before Wells Fargo Private Bank, Sandra spent 18 years at SunTrust Bank in Private Wealth Management where she supported Personal Trust Officers with trust administration, preserving client relationships, monitoring, and maintaining client accounts.
Sandra has earned certificates of completion from Cannon Financial Institute in Fiduciary Trust Administration and Fiduciary Investment Management.
